24 Season 8 Promo: “World Hangs in the Balance”

The Dish Rag caught up with “Battlestar Galactica” star Katee Sackhoff at the HFPA Young Hollywood party Tuesday night.

The actress talked with us about the fast pace of her new role on “24, being engaged to Freddie Prinze Jr. (on the show, people) and her plan to drink wine and watch the Golden Globes in January from the comfort of her own home.

Can we come over?

Starbuck — er — Sackhoff says that “24″ is a less time-consuming gig than “BSG” and calls the suspenseful show, “a well-oiled machine.”

“I’m like the new computer analyst boss (Dana Walsh) of Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and I’m engaged to Freddie Prinze Jr.,” she says. “Its a good life on ‘24′ right now.”

The entire cast has been “great” to the pretty blonde newcomer. “They welcome you with open arms and say, ‘I hope you don’t die.’”

So what’s Katee Sackhoff watching on TV herself these days?

“‘Ice Road Truckers!’ That’s a really good show,” she says.

Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff joined other stars of Fox series for a photo shoot in Hollywood to promote the network’s upcoming midseason shows, including 24, which Sackhoff joins when it returns on Jan. 18, 2010. You can watch a video of the shoot below.

Other Fox sci-fi stars include Fringe’s Jasika Nicole, the stars of the new supernatural series Past Life and House’s smoking-hot Olivia Wilde, who isn’t in a sci-fi show but will co-star in next year’s Tron Legacy.

On our recent visit to the set of 24, Katee Sackhoff recounted a very funny, albeit slightly inappropriate tale involving Edward James Olmos directing the direct-to-DVD BATTLESTAR GALACTICA video, THE PLAN

In this latest episode, Katee and Tricia talk about the political and religious aspects of the series and their thoughts on portraying role models both on and off screen.

The first official “24″ season 8 trailer has been released. The video doesn’t really show a lot of Katee but it gives us some idea of what to expect from the 8th season. Season 8 kicks off with a two-night, four-hour premiere on Sunday, January 17. View the first version of this promo (which includes Katee) at pastapadre.com.

And then we realize we’re less than two months away before the next season of 24 begins. You know, a lot of loose ends, about Jack’s health for one thing, but it seems we’re all past that–and we’re going into another 24 hours of the stuff we’ve come to expect from Jack Bauer and company.
